Böker Plus Haddock Pro
- Jens Anso Design
- D2 steel
- G10 handle scales with Anso grooves
The Böker Plus Haddock Pro is a new edition of a true classic in the Böker range. Just like the smaller Cox Pro, it is a design by Danish knifemaker and industrial designer Jens Ansø.
The idiosyncratically shaped blade with the curved blade back and the nail cut reminds a little of the beak of a bird, but proves to be extremely cutting-friendly due to the long belly of the cutting edge. With a thickness of a full 5 mm, Böker has used a considerable piece of steel here and one could believe that this is more of a crowbar with a cutting bevel than a knife. To avoid this, the flat grind of the knife was executed all the way up to the back of the blade and an angle was chosen that leaves little material behind the cutting bevel.
For the steel, Böker Plus have opted for the very tough D2 tool steel. This steel is not only exceedingly resilient, but also takes a very high sharpness. To protect the blade from flash rust, we advise cleaning the knife with a little oil every now and then.
The handle, like the blade, bears the typical signature of Jens Ansø. Unlike its predecessor, the Haddock Pro now features a liner lock. The black G10 handle scales, which have been provided with the typical Ansø grooves, are very secure and comfortable in the hand.
All in all, this is a knife that is both a piece of jewelry and a tool. In our opinion, this is one of the best all-round knives currently on the market at a price that is tempting.
